Christmas Eve 22

I didn’t take many pictures over Christmas, and honestly it was a little scattered. I’m not sure if it was because Christian was only here for a couple days, or because it was the first time we had it at my house. I didn’t send out treats to my neighbors, I didn’t get pics of the dogs in their jingle bells, and we almost didn’t even do our Christmas cards. Mom and Dad did come over to bring the boys some gifts and I got a couple snaps. Taylor stopped by to say hi.I just love that kid!So, while there may not be many pictures, it was still Christmas, and it was still awesome.

Miss Fergie

I’ve been trying to write this one for awhile, and can’t seem to find the words. Right around the time of Fergie’s 14th birthday, our girl got sick. It happened occasionally, usually lasted a week and then would get back to normal, but this time she couldn’t shake it. We lost her on February 24th. Fergie was honestly the best little dog I have ever had. She was smart, sweet, and patient beyond words. She always loved to be in your lap, under your feet, or snuggled up anywhere near. As she got older, she couldn’t handle the heat of being close, so she would come get her pets then head off to her chair. I have never met anyone that was more excited to head to Florida, I mean LOSING HER MIND, only to climb into her car bed and sleep the entire way. She would walk on the golf course for hours, but refused to cross a bridge. When Lulu wouldn’t lower herself to chase a scary rodent, Fergie was there to corner it and pounce. She would have happily slept with us, but unfortunately snored like a 90 year old man and didn’t mind climbing in your face to wake you up at 5 just to go outside and see what was up. She was more motivated by food than any other dog I have ever had. If I dropped an entire bag of dog food, she would eat until she popped. As she got older, her breath could bring a grown man to his knees, but she was the most loving little thing, even though the loving didn’t smell dewy fresh. She did figure out that she was old, rules no longer applied, and didn’t mind milking that shit for all it was worth. Even though her mannerism and health problems aged her, she always looked like a puppy. I will miss my little stinky-faced, fierce, kind, snoring, cute glutton of an eternal puppy. I hope we gave her the best life, and I am so glad she was ours.

Back to School

I absolutely loved having both boys home for Thanksgiving. Christian had already left for Pensacola in Scott’s truck because we were taking his into the shop that week. Jackson and Scott had spent the day before washing and waxing Jackson’s truck, and it was time for him to head back to Oxford. The only thing that helped us keep it together was knowing that they would both be back in a couple weeks for Christmas break. Christian would only make weekends and a few days off, but it was enough to ease the pain.

Is it Just Me?

Or is Deebo looking especially handsome today?

Not Really

Most years I bribe my kids with new clothes for Christmas card pics, but this year was different. I realized that they were both home at the same time for the first time in forever, and Christian was leaving in a matter of hours. He was asleep on the couch, afternoon was slipping away, and no new clothes were purchased. I woke him up and told him we had no time for showers, just wear what you have on. When he said he needed to wash his hair, I told him to grab a hat and let’s go! Did they match? Not really. Did it matter? Not really. Did anyone notice? Not really. Was I disappointed and determined that next year I would be more prepared? Not really.
