Let me introduce this little gal. Apparently, some mockingbirds were displaced from their nest down at Mom’s and were about to become cat food. Her neighbor called me, and we went down there and found this girl. She lived in a Zappo’s box her first week, hence the name. There has been so much happen with the birds in the last couple weeks or so. There was a brother that we had for a little while that didn’t make it. Zappos was thriving and learning to fly when suddenly her legs seemed to stop working. Google tells us it is probably a virus, but she is still eating and growing and comfortable. One leg has started working again and we are hopeful for a recovery. These pictures are from her first day with us. We are all a little attached and are really hoping that Zappos will be back to herself and ready to fly before we know it!
