Something Tells Me This isn’t Our Last Lowe’s Trip

Christian has a fairly new interest. He loves to garden. He’s constantly on the look-out for something to plant, take care of and watch grow. We figured Spring Break was the perfect time for a trip to Lowe’s to get him lined out with a very small garden to tend. Keep in mind that he can’t take care of his DS, or remember to brush his teeth most mornings without being told. Hopefully this will be different. I think MawMaw & PawPaw have passed their love of gardening to at least one person in the family. He wanted everything; tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, jalapenos, daisies, geraniums, EVERYTHING. We had to say no to some, but gave in on plenty. Christian let us know that a trip to Lowe’s to buy plants should become a weekly activity for the fam. Note to MawMaw & PawPaw, Christian wants to come with you on your weekly plant buying trips to Lowe’s.20090408_5139Because of our issues with dogs, rabbits, deer, possum, and armadiggers, we have to make this a container garden, so we got all that crap, too. Christian carefully planted everything with a little help, fertilized it, watered it, and even added a worm or two in for good measure.

If all goes as planned, we should have a few tomatoes, peppers and jalapenos in the coming weeks. Or is it months? Hell if I know. I’m not the only one that’s a little clueless about this whole garden business. When Scott told Christian only a couple hours after he planted them that he thought there was a tomato already growing, Christian’s eyes lit up and he asked “REALLY??” I can tell this is going to be fun!20090408_5155
