After a 9 hour drive, only 4 ½ for him, Deebo is home. He slept most of the way, and seems to be settling in fine.He is very intrigued by Fergie. She is patient and interested, but would be perfectly fine if he went back to Alabama. She is taking this time while she is the bigger pup to get him in line. We will see if it lasts.I am well aware of the shit show we are about to embark on, but I can tell he is going to be an awesome fit. Now excuse me while I go and try to sleep with a dog crying most of the night…
After we lost Lulu, it took a little time before Scott was ready to jump back in with a ridgeback puppy. When the time finally came, we contacted Lulu’s breeder, Sandra. She no longer breeds, but I’d trust her judgement on anything Ridgeback, and she referred us to a friend who was about to hopefully have a couple of pregnant females. We loved the new breeder and couldn’t wait. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, we were getting antsy. We contacted Sandra again, and she put us in touch with another fantastic breeder friend that had puppies on the way. We filled out a questionnaire, had a few email and phone conversations and crossed our fingers. When the puppies were born, all 10 of them, we were excited. We weren’t set on a male or female, we loved black noses and liver noses, so we were open to almost anything. We decided to let her make the final decision about which pup to place with us. She mentioned us coming up (she lives outside Tuscaloosa) and meeting them around 4 to 5 weeks. Covid had everything screwed up, so that ended up being 6 weeks. She had two pet pups for us to choose from. Above is the cuddly liver-nosed boy with a navy blue collar and below is the aloof black-nosed girl with her momma’s eyes and the lighter purple collar. I’ll let you decide which one we went with.Honestly, there wasn’t a puppy there that I didn’t want. This is Momma Amaris, waiting patiently for us to leave her puppies alone. She was so sweet, and I wanted her, too.It was so hard to drive 9 hours and not come back with a puppy, but luckily we only had a 2 week wait.
Scott took Donna and me on another dolphin cruise, and we found some. One of them was missing part of his nose, but it didn’t seem to phase him. He just looked like he had a severe underbite.
I can’t believe it, I finished. Well, I think I finished. If I was at art class I know my teacher would tell me to darken my shadows, but I don’t want to, and I’m not there, so I’m sticking with this. This is Scott’s favorite picture and also one of mine. I miss those sweet little reading boys.
Jackson and I weren’t back from Florida yet, but Scott took Christian and some friends to the islands. They met up with Chad and his crew. I don’t remember all the specifics, but I did get this photo. What’s better than floating around at the islands all day? I can’t think of a thing.
