Meet the Teacher

20090804_2042I have one child that doesn’t want to hear anyone utter the word school. While I was filling out the mountain of paperwork, he sat in his new seat fiddling with the iPhone pretending school doesn’t start in two days. He didn’t get the teacher he wanted, but is completely happy with the one he got. None of his neighborhood friends are in his class, and he’s a little worried about getting on the right bus the first day. I know he likes school, but he’s at the age that it is not cool to say it out loud. He’s my worrier and it shows.20090804_2058I have another child that wishes tomorrow would hurry up and pass so it would be the first day of kindergarten. Within seconds of entering his new classroom, he was off drawing pictures while I filled out another mountain of paperwork. He didn’t know a soul but immediately called his classmates his friends. He was fascinated with the cafeteria, completely surprised that there was a playground, and had absolutely no worries or cares about finding his bus. He sounded just like Christian the first time he laid eyes on Sand Island, “I yuv dis place!” Although Christian said it more like, “I wuv dis pwace!!” I don’t know how much of it is just different personalities and how much of it is the added security of having a big brother there to look after him, but Jackson has no fear. 20090804_2060
