When I asked Christian what kind of birthday party he wanted to have this year, he said he wanted all his friends to come over and play football, so that’s just what we did. I figured I’d better get our standard birthday “bouncy-bounce,” just in case the football game got boring. They had a blast. They’d play football, then jump, then play football, then jump, then run around like lunatics screaming, then jump again. After Christian opened his presents, we did the whole Happy Birthday and blow the candles out thing. They were so funny. As soon as the last candle was out I asked all the kids who wanted cake. By the time I got the question out, they were all running out the back door for another game. So, I’m not sure why we even bother with cakes anymore, but it looks like we haven’t outgrown the bouncy-bounce. Although, I’m pretty sure we aren’t allowed to call it a bouncy-bounce. After all, he is 9.
