Christian has really been leaning towards going to Ole Miss next fall, so we thought we might want to go to a game this year so he could check it out before he makes his school visit. Allen was going to take them, but it fell through, so Colleen and I stepped in. Mr. Jimmy and Ms. Cindy let us use their extra tickets and stay in their extra hotel room, basically, they took us to raise. We hit the square first and I introduced Christian to Faulkner. They are warming up to each other. We headed to the tent for tailgating.
We split up to explore the grove, but met up to head into the stadium. It was the LSU game, so it was packed. Christian was a little overwhelmed by it all. I love me some Ms. Cindy! The band was awesome. My favorite part was right before kickoff when the entire stadium links arms and sways and yells, and I look up and see my baby, at my school, with his arm around me participating in something that I was part of over 20 years ago, and I teared up pretty hard, almost as bad as when I saw the final score!Christian and Caroline headed over to the student section for most of the game, but came back to spend the 4th quarter with us.I told him that I wished he would have gotten a W for his first Ole Miss game, but honestly, if he is going to be a Rebel, he’s going to have to learn to lose gracefully. Welcome to Oxford, baby boy!
