Flashing back to the 70’s to my grandma’s house. When I was sick, my mom would take me to grandmas while she had to work. I was really into art and crafty stuff, so grandma would put me in the guest bedroom and bring in this white tray with brand new colors, markers and paper in the sides. Sometimes there was new clay, or coloring books. I never knew what it would be, but I always knew it would be awesome. She brought my lunch and breakfast on the tray, and when I fell asleep, it would disappear, usually coming back when I woke up ready to draw, write, or craft. Everything about that tray reminds me of her taking care of me and making me feel really special, not that I realized it at the time. Grandma was always very impressed with everything I did, and would try to take pictures of my creations. She never could quite get them in focus, but that’s me up there creating on my tray. I really loved that thing. Flash-forward to current day. I follow a local antique store on Facebook, and I saw a magical tray advertised for sale. It had been painted, but it looked just like mine. I messaged them from out of town immediately. When we made it home, I went over to pick it up. I put it on the daybed in our bedroom and every time I see it I think of my grandma, and I kind of want to draw something.
