Just for a quick break in the underwater photos, I thought I’d share this gem. Riley & Riley took this photo back in the day. They were downsizing and cleaning out of all their old discs, prints and negatives this summer, so Donna picked them up for us. This is one of the last and only professional pictures we have. Seriously, I don’t think we have any professional pictures of Jackson at all. It’s also the only picture I’ve ever ordered bigger than a 5×7 until I became our family photographer. It was on the wall in our living room before Katrina. I loved this picture, so before we closed the house up and got out of dodge, I removed it and a couple other photos I couldn’t replace from my wall and tables and placed them under the stairs in case the doors blew open and everything got wet. It never occurred to me that we would flood. The only things in our home that were damaged and couldn’t be replaced, other than our yearbooks and my college diploma, were those few pictures that I tried to save. There was only a little water damage on this one, so, I just hung it back on the wall in our guest room and decided that the water spots gave it character. I’m still glad to have the negative and digital file of this image, but I’ll probably keep the Katrina version on the wall. I’m kinda weird like that.
