Decisions, Decisions

Jackson decided he didn’t want to play baseball this year. He really didn’t have a good reason other that he didn’t like getting out, and he was afraid people might laugh at him. He was very serious about it. Any time we would try to discuss it he would get a little upset. Honestly, I don’t care what he plays, but I do want him to be involved in some activity outside of school, and knowing how much he loved baseball before he got his first out in his 6th game in front of God and everybody, I just hate to see him give up something he loves out of fear. We decided our plan of attack was to mention it occasionally and talk it up, but other than that, just let it go and let him have the final say. Registration is tomorrow and he has to make his final decision by then. He has stuck by his guns, well, for the most part.Today Scott took both boys outside to play and they dusted off the baseball equipment. Jackson was all into it. Really into it!It looks like he’s having fun, doesn’t it?When it got too dark and everyone was heading in, Scott asked Jackson if that had changed his mind about baseball. He thought about it for a second, smiled and said, “Maybe!” I’m not sure what tomorrow holds at registration, but I’m hoping he will reconsider. I know he loves it and will have a great time, at least until he gets that first out and all hell breaks loose. I’ll keep you updated.
