Ok, so you’ve sorta seen the first one on our Christmas card, but I can’t believe I forgot about the rest of these. If you know us, you know what a disaster Christmas photos can turn into around here. I honestly buy them coordinating nice clothes, wait just a tad too late, and lose my mind over the fact that they won’t give me two minutes of cooperation, then I sweat it out as to whether or not they will arrive in time and if they do, I scramble to get them addressed and in the mail. This year, I said, “Screw that!” We were in Destin before Thanksgiving, and I decided we should run to the beach for our Christmas picture. The boys were outside, stinky and sweaty from running and fishing, and I grabbed the only thing that looked similar in their closet. The shirt literally stuck to Jackson’s sweaty back as I helped him into it. I didn’t care, we were gonna knock this out. I still had minimal cooperation while we were down there, but it took us maybe 4 minutes and we were hopefully done.
They may not have been in their perfect clothes, or been perfectly clean and groomed, but I loved the results. My boys rarely dress up, so they looked more comfortable in their regular clothes, and I didn’t make them shower and primp so they were happier, and that made it easier on me. It was November, so I had my cards all done and waiting to go out before December even rolled around. So, I’m thinking we should take that approach every year. That way, we’ll have time to watch the sunsets.
