He’s their catcher, umpire, ball guy, and bat guy. He helps put them in their positions and doesn’t say a thing to them when he has to go back and do it again 22 seconds later. He puts the ball on the tee for them to hit, then moves the tee out of the way for them to score their homerun. He throws with them, and not all hard, but careful, so nobody puts an eye out. He drags gear out there and he drags it back to the car. Most importantly, he spends over an hour with nine 4 year olds, and doesn’t ever turn around and smack one of them. That alone should get him nominated for best assistant coach ever!
