Friday, after Jackson got home from school, I was checking all his papers in his backpack. There was a note from his teacher informing me that he would be a wiseman in the Christmas program this year. When I asked him about it, he said, “I am NOT going to be an angel! I am going to be a wiseman, just like Charlie and David.” While I was sitting there thinking about how sweet it was going to be to see my kid all decked out in his costume acting out the Christmas story, it hit me. I called Jackson back over and asked him what Andrew, the other little boy in the class, was going to be. He told me he was going to be an angel. Mmmmmhmmmmm, just as I suspected. I looked at his sweet little face and although I already knew the answer, I asked him, “Jackson, were you supposed to be an angel, and when you found out Charlie and David were going to be wisemen, you threw such a fit that your teacher changed you to a wiseman and Andrew to the angel?” He just looked at me with a big smile and said, “YUP!” I guess Ms. Stacy probably knew that the angel thing was just too much of a stretch.
