All of Christian’s football games are late. Not late to college student or anything, but to a 7 year old, they start right about the time he has to go to bed. It presents a bit of a problem. I can’t miss all the games, and Scott can’t miss any, but this guy can’t stay up until 10 on a school night. His teacher would never complain, but I know she wouldn’t appreciate it one little bit watching my child sleep through Math class. Oh, and if he had one of his famous I’m Too Tired to Think Straight and I’m Unable to Adequately Voice My Needs meltdown, well, it would upset way more than just the teacher! Thank goodness for Maw Maw. Maw Maw and Paw Paw never miss much of anything the boys are into, maybe a T-Ball game back in 2004, but football terrifies her. I really think the thought of them getting injured in a game keeps her up at night. When Christian started playing, she got her lawn chair ready, but I know she just wanted to bury her head in the sand and pretend that this wasn’t happening. Ahhhh, a solution! On football game night, Maw Maw shows up just in time and hangs with Jackson while we all go watch the 11 and 12 year old Saints play. We will call in and keep her updated on the game, but never once will we tell her about Christian getting his bell rung. Those little details can wait until Christian gets home safe and sound, then he can tell her all the dirty details. Is that okay Mom? Jackson is completely on-board with it!
