Sometimes it’s Hard Being Eight, too

20080512_2171 I didn’t pose him for this picture. I didn’t have too. Christian came home from a friends house yesterday a little down, and I just happened to be there with a camera. Surprise, right? Jackson is three, and like I’ve said before, sometimes gets left out of things. We work around it. Christian is eight, and even though he has more freedom to go, he still gets left out from time to time. Christian has so many friends in our neighborhood. There always seems to be someone around to play. There are a couple of older boys that he plays with a lot, and while they include him in many things, really more things than I expect, sometimes he gets left out. We’ve tried to prepare him for these times, knowing that the age difference sometimes doesn’t work in his favor. We also remind him that there have been times he has chosen not to play with his younger friends in order to play with the older ones and they probably feel left out, too. He understands, but it doesn’t hurt his feelings any less when he isn’t included. It’s hard to see your child’s feeling hurt, or to know he has hurt someone elses, and while you wish it wouldn’t happen, you know it will. Lucky for us, this time we had MawMaw & PawPaw coming over and America’s Funniest Home Videos to watch to ease our pain.20080512_2172
